Short CV

Christos Alexakos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1979. He received the Dipl. Eng. degree in Computer Engineering and Informatics (2003) and the M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering (2006) from the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras, Greece. He is now a Ph.D. candidate at the Pattern Recognition Laboratory of Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras. He is also working as research engineer at the Industrial Systems Institute. Furthermore, he is teaching Data Structures and Object-Oriented Programming as adjunct lecturer in the Department of Applied Informatics at Management and Economy, Technical Educational Institute of Messologhi. His research is related with Semantic Web, Computational and Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Agents applications in the fields of enterprise and industrial integration, medical data, e-learning, digital culture and information retrieval in the WWW. He has published 9 articles in international scientific journals and 24 articles in conference proceedings, having more than 100 references to them from other scientific articles. He has also ten-year experience in development of software applications, both web-based(PHP, ASP) and standalone(JAVA, C#) including databases applications (MySQL, MS SQL Server), GIS (MapServer, Ka-Map, Google Maps) and service-oriented applications (.NET, JWSDP, PHP SOAP). He worked as IT analyst and programmer at 15 research and development projects funded from national and European programs. As free-lancer IT specialist he designed and developed various web based applications such as Hellenic Electronic Archive of Hematological Diseases and System of External Evaluation of Blood Analyzers for Hellenic Society of Hematology. Furthermore, he worked at the management of National and European research and development projects.
